cruto
Mimesis. Copy the edit of any video.
Upload your raw video and the viral one you like. Mimesis measures how it’s edited and applies it to yours: cut pacing, pauses, zooms, captions, lighting and format.
Three steps. Zero manual templates.
Your raw video and the viral one whose edit you want to copy: a TikTok, Reel or Short up to 3 minutes long.
In your browser it measures how often the shot changes and how much breathing room it leaves between sentences. The AI looks at 6 frames to read its captions, graphics and B-roll.
It cuts your pauses at its pace, adds zooms on the cuts, recreates its captions and matches its lighting and format. Everything stays in the editor so you can tweak it.
If it can be copied, it gets copied.
Copies
- Cut pacingThe minimum pause it removes and the breathing room between sentences come from the reference’s gaps.
- Shot changesIf the shot changes less than every 6 seconds, your cuts get punch-in zooms at that pace.
- CaptionsFont, weight, size, caps, colors, box, outline, shadow, position, words at a time and how they appear. Saved as a “Your reference” template.
- Format and fit9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9, full screen, with a blurred background or with bars.
- Light and colorBrightness, contrast, saturation and temperature matched to the reference.
- Motion graphics and B-rollIf the reference uses them, the AI adds graphics to your video at that density and suggests B-roll ideas based on what you say.
Doesn’t copy
- Its contentNot its images, its text or its voice. Your video stays yours.
- Its music and sound effectsYou choose the sound in the editor.
- Specific transitions and effectsIt copies the pacing with zooms on the cuts, not every effect.
- Exact fontsIt picks the closest of Cruto’s 7 families: Inter, Montserrat, Anton, Newsreader, Plus Jakarta Sans, Poppins and Bricolage Grotesque.
The reference video isn’t uploaded to any server: it’s analyzed in your browser and the AI only gets 6 small frames.
It’s in the editor, in step 1.

Each reference counts as 2 AI requests from your plan.
How long can the reference video be?
Up to 3 minutes. Your own video can be as long as your plan allows: 15 minutes on Pro and 20 on Studio.
Which plan do I need?
Pro or Studio. On the Free or Creator plan you’ll see the option in the editor, but copying a reference is part of Pro and Studio.
Does it work with TikTok, Reels and Shorts?
Yes. Any video on your device works (MP4, MOV or WebM), vertical or horizontal. Mimesis doesn’t read links: download the reference first.
Is the reference video uploaded?
No. It’s analyzed in your browser and the AI only gets 6 small frames to see its captions, graphics and B-roll.
Can I tweak what it copies?
Yes. The captions stay as a “Your reference” template, and cuts, zooms, lighting and format can be changed in the editor as usual.
What if my video is very different?
It copies what can be carried over. If the reference has long shots, it doesn’t add zooms; if it has no captions, it doesn’t make them up.
